Obviously not a G or CZ lens so I'm giving it 5 stars based on experience with other lenses at the lower end of the price range. I have 4 other primes that my father used during his film days: 28mm macro, 35mm, 135mm and 200mm primes. I fell in love with prime numbers because they made me move and focus more on the shot than the convenience of zooming in or out to adjust what I wanted to see. My first impression of this lens was that it offers much better focus than my SAL1855 kit lens and offers a good defocus effect with circular bokeh. Autofocus is accurate here and very fast compared to what I'm used to. If I absolutely need a focal length of less than 50mm for a landscape shot, then I always have a zoom lens with me! The only downsides are that it's not G lens quality, but I still can't afford that luxury. I would highly recommend this lens as your very first purchase. Zoom lenses are a great first choice for capturing a variety of shots, but never forget the great quality of a prime lens!
