These grommets allow me to insert a pair of probes from my digital meat thermometer through the side of my smoker. I've been using them for several months and they show no signs of wear or failure. If you plan to use them for smoking (300 degrees or less), keep them. I can't say higher temperatures. I use screw #8 to plug empty ports.
