Rubbing alcohol was used to clean the frame. It is available, inexpensive and dries quickly. Very fast. For the shrink wrap I used a heat gun (I had it handy). Be careful when sticking the foil. It is very thin and breaks easily. A small crack is not the end of the world (of course it would be better without) Installed on every widow in the basement. The area has gone from one of the coldest to one of the warmest (I have temp sensors all over the house). If installed correctly, you can find that the barley is there. At 3 feet away you can tell if you are facing the border directly. The view from the window is like looking through another pane of glass.
