Handy Air Flow and Air Quality Meter

I had an exhaust leak in my car I think. However, I have a very sensitive sense of smell and didn't want to spend a lot of time and effort trying to fix what may be a very small issue. I first tried a CO meter, but the meter itself was defective. Upon further investigation, I found that a CO meter wasn't what I needed anyway. Most modern cars don't emit much CO at all. The catalyst converts most of the CO into CO2 or water. Trying to detect CO also means detecting several parts per million. That is hard. With a CO2 meter this is much easier as any decent exhaust leak will increase the level of CO2 in the car VERY quickly. Also, measurements are made in thousands of parts per million, so the error margin of the gauge is less important. In short, if you're looking for vehicle exhaust leaks, it's probably easier with a CO2 meter, since car exhaust is brimming with CO2. It works very well on this counter. I tested it in a number of situations and it found the expected amount of CO2. The manual says it analyzes the air once a second and as far as I can tell this is accurate. However, it is not designed to accurately measure CO2 concentration every second. The sensor needs time to accurately reflect the level of CO2 in the environment. This is easily tested by breathing briefly on the sensor, which causes it to jump slightly above 5000ppm, but it takes 30 seconds or more to get back to normal. In my own car, I noticed that the CO2 levels were no different from mine. a friend's car. So whatever I'm feeling under hard acceleration, it's most likely not exhaust fumes, or there's so little of it that it doesn't increase the CO2 levels. It's good for me to know. In addition, this gauge can be used not only to check the interior of the car. It can also be used inside buildings to determine if ventilation is adequate. In addition, it can be used at home to check if the CO2 level is too high (which can happen when cooking or using a fireplace, for example). I was surprised to see that we got over 1500ppm in just a few minutes in both my car and my friend's car with recirculated air. It comes in a cute carrying case that looks like a tiny plastic sleeve. I can't imagine ever using it, but if you want to look like a true "pro", there's no harm in having your meter in your own pocket.
