Just made my first pot of rice in the Insta Zest 8 cup. The rice turned out perfectly, but my positive comments end there. The guide that came with the cooker says white rice takes 25-60 minutes to cook. What? How do you plan a meal with that range? I get that the Zest isn’t a pressure cooker and that the amount your cooking determines the cook time, but why can’t the so-called smart program tell me how long it’s going to take to cook? Instead of a countdown timer, the dumb display only reads "ON” until 10 minutes before the end of the cycle. Only at the 10 minute mark does it tell you how much time is left. The chart in the guide could easily include specific times based on the amount of rice you’re cooking, but it doesn’t.Zest comes with a steamer basket, but not a word in the guide about how to use it.Not a single recipe in the guide. Don’t waste your time downloading the app as suggested in the guide. It has recipes for a few other Instant appliances, but NOT for the Zest. The lid doesn’t come off for cleaning and there are NO cleaning instructions in the guide that comes with the cooker. A more complete guide is available online, but it’s just unacceptable to have to search for such basic information. Most inexpensive rice cookers make great rice. I was expecting better documentation and a more useful display. I won’t recommend the Zest to anyone. The makers of Instant Pot and Instant Zest need to pay a technical writer to produce a useful User’s Manual for each of their products.
