Review on Watts Premier 560014 GPD Membrane by Julio Montano

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Bad product now (2019) - NO MORE QC (see my edit)

I bought this in October 2014 and it has lasted about 2 years. Their use, water grain content and filtering process vary. In my system, water flows through a 5 micron pre-filter (replaced every 3 months) before entering this membrane. I have public well water tested at 230-250ppm, straight from a sink faucet, unfiltered. For about $20, I recommend the Revain HM Digital TDS-4 Pocket TDS Meter. I use this to determine when to change my water filters. I also have a water softening system that removes calcium, magnesium and iron ions to prevent limescale build up and use soap/detergent more efficiently. This water then flows through a 5 micron 10" to 2.5" iSpring sediment filter cartridge. Then it passes through this membrane. Finally, it is passed through a DuPont WFPFC8002 carbon cartridge. I have to disclose my system settings to give the membrane a fair rating. I cannot test the membrane itself. After 2 filtration cycles, the water is reduced to 20-35 ppm. NOTE: my setup and my water. CONS: When replacing the filter, the outer rubber seal came loose and got stuck in the housing (picture). I've never used any lube on the outer black rubber ring that would cause this, so I'm not removing the star. You can use a water-based lube, but don't use oil. Maybe try shaking the old membrane first before removing it? These membranes only last a few months, not 2 years. I bought a new reverse osmosis system and will no longer use Premiere Watt.
