I followed Zach George's suggestion and clipped the dog to you with a carabiner. This leash is perfect for that. It has 2 extra feet so you can buckle it up and then hold on to the leash which is great for extra protection if your dog wants to run away. I've never had this, but it could be. Also, 6 feet (standard length) is too short. I like it when my dog explores a certain radius around me but doesn't get hit by cars. It's perfect for me for that. The line itself is strong and thick, not those really flimsy useless lines. This is a good product and I recommend it.
