Space is limited due to the layout of our kitchen. We didn't want a permanent or rotating island. We decided we needed an extra counter for baking that could be folded down when not in use. My brother in law and husband built this for me and it is beautiful. It has carried the weight of all my baking utensils and baking items without a hiccup. Folding legs were added to provide extra support as this rack was attached to a half wall (didn't want to add weight to the wall). The legs are secured with this folding mechanism that locks in the open and closed position. It's nice because there's no doubt that it will stay in place. It is very easy to unlock by pressing the latch. I'm an average woman with no real upper body athletic strength. I am very happy with it. This is where all my bread baking and holiday baking took place. I even took another narrow folding table and built a wet and dry station to put away when I'm done. Brilliant!
