Triton DuraHooks are made from heavy gauge steel and as soon as you take them out of the box you know the hooks are going to last. After deciding on galvanized steel, I became curious. why a number of other reviewers seemed dissatisfied with their DuraHooks. They settled on hardboard and pointed out a design issue that caused the screws to appear to pull out of the hardboard. Criticism makes sense, but there's a simple fix to strengthen the connection and reduce the number of outages. Before driving the 1/4" screws into the perforated plate, apply a liberal amount of hot glue to the hole where the screw will attach. This strengthens the fiberboard and reduces the chance of the screw loosening.
