Review on MICHELIN X-Ice North 4 205/55 R16 94T winter by Aneta Szmit ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very high-quality product, I take it not for the first time.

Regarding noise: those who are used to riding studded tires (on which all these very spikes are present, and did not fall out a long time ago), will not notice a difference for the worse. On the contrary, braking is much quieter, starting from a standstill is much quieter, steering turns when maneuvering in a parking lot are much quieter, the passage of cast-iron plates on tram crossings is much quieter, the rumble in wheel arches is also quieter. Noise will be noted only by those who are used to riding non-studded winter tires. You need to understand that physics cannot be deceived, and 250 spikes (albeit a reduced size) will make a sound anyway. Outcome: I'm happy. I will continue to ride it.

Pros
  • Car - Ford C-Max. Dimension - 205/55 R16. Production - RF. In operation from March to May 2022 in the Middle Urals (average temperature approx. -15 degrees, but often up to -30, and frequent snowfalls). The usual Michelin. With all its "pluses" and even some innovations in the form of a completely new type of spikes. After more than two months of intensive use (total mileage of 4500 km at different speeds and driving styles), not a single spike fell out / broke. Impression as from "thoroughbred" and reliable rubber. Bridgestone fans will notice that the sidewall is softer than they are used to, but those who have been riding European studded tires for a long time will not say this. In the last photos - tires after a run of 4500 km).
Cons
  • I wish the noise was even quieter.
