I only used a wooden blade and it did the job perfectly. It has lasted as long as one of the much more expensive OEM reeds, but not as long. Blades are expensive and not durable even if they don't hit metal. But for a little more than a dollar blade, they work great. In fact, I'll be using the multi-tool a lot more because the blades aren't an outrageous price tag. I used one blade for 2 installation jobs. Cutting gaskets, finishing baseboards, and a few other random cuts on the first job. The second was to caulk 2 more baseboards and cut out 3 sockets and a vent. Most of them were made of MDF, which is quite abrasive for any blade, including carbide. My contractor asked me about it and I gave my feedback and he got a set too. He uses them a lot more than I do, so I'm curious how he'll like them. But at $1 each compared to $10-15 from an OEM, you really can't go wrong.
