I have been using Brother TZ and M label printers for many years. This is my favorite of them all! It's much faster to use than either of the standalone devices, and I can print an entire spreadsheet of barcode stock labels in one session. Cute! These devices are much cheaper than individual devices. I have one that prints labels up to 1 inch wide. For those looking to spend less, a machine that prints up to 1/2 inch is a very good deal ($20 when I saw it a few days ago). many "fall traps" on printers that use TZ series cartridges. However, I prefer this type of cassette because the back with the label is easier to remove than the "m" type labels. Disadvantages of TZ labels: Larger cassette, only holding 26 feet of tape. If you print a lot of labels, buy a lot of cartridges. M cartridges hold the same amount of tape, but only half as much. But M-type tapes are very difficult to peel off, and if you print a lot of labels, you will hate M-type labels. Cartridges can easily jam if you make a mistake. On standalone printers, pressing the cut button while printing a label causes a label jam (50% of people who use my printer do this on their first label). Label printers that support larger cartridges than the one you are using will jam if you do not fully insert the cartridge. Both mistakes are user errors, but both can easily be made accidentally. There should be clear warnings about this on the tear-off label, the instructions indicate proper use, but most people don't even read or see the instructions. I gave the device 5 stars because I'm an advanced user, I'm very happy with my printer and the only issues I had were user error. But it's fair to warn you that the limitations I've seen with these label printers over the years still exist, you have to be careful. If you use the device incorrectly, you can easily damage the label cartridge. Also, I printed so many labels on the first day that I used 3 cartridges in the first hour. I disassembled one of the used cartridges and found a roll of transfer tape. The roll of transfer film has a negative image of any labels you have applied to that cartridge. Just like old typewriter ribbons, the piece you throw away has everything you typed written on it. Therefore, if you work with classified information or documents, do not dispose of the used cartridge in an unsafe manner with household waste. It must be properly destroyed or archived as long as your information remains confidential. Fire may be the only good method of destruction, and then only if you're sure it's 100% on fire. things to consider!
