I am an advanced seamstress and I design patterns. I've spent hundreds of dollars buying commercial sliders. I can't get over the fact that this book has blocks for children from sizes 3 to 12. Whether you're designing clothes for your child or creating patterns for sale, this is a great place to start. The blocks contained in the book are more than worth the purchase price. Carla said that this is not a comprehensive model drawing book. That's right, but if you have practical pattern drawing skills, you will find the book very useful. There are links to other pattern drawing books for those who want more information. Links to cutters are included so you don't have to draw your own blocks to measure. I think this is important to know if you are just starting out. If I was just starting out designing children's clothing, this would be the first book I would buy. It is well written and very vividly illustrated.
