Very handy in an automotive environment
This is just right for certain awkward spots that would be a hassle to sand by hand. For example, one of them allows you to quickly remove rust around the wheel hub, which prevents the brake disc or drum from separating. The 1/4" hex shank snaps quickly into a 1/4" hex cordless screwdriver or cordless drill and can also be easily extended with 1/4" hex extensions. I don't know how they use them for that make less than a dollar apiece but I'm glad they do :)
