I purchased this paddle as a backup travel and surf paddle. It is a bit heavy but the price was right at the time and it came with a nice bag. Unfortunately, I have had the same problem happen to me 3 times with the blade snapping at the shaft. The first time it was determined to be a manufacturing defect. The 2nd time, I was within the warranty period and they shipped me out a replacement. This paddle snapped less than a year later but outside of the initial warranty period so now I am out of luck. While they offered a modest discount on the purchase of a new paddle (trying to upsell me to their full carbon), I am hesitant to buy another paddle from them as there are serious Q/C and durability issues.
