When tightening the nut, the wiper arm is pressed against the motor shaft. This "smooths out" the brass into the shape of the corrugated portion of the motor shaft. However, the motor shaft is not made of brass. and so we have two different metals. hence we can have terrible corrosion problems (i.e. they can be difficult to remove). CUT IT DOWN WITH A DREMEEL AND LIFE WILL BE EASY! Then put on a new one.
