I have used this product several times and always found that it helps against algae. PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! Several other reviews mention wiping out their entire fish population - this is usually due to an overdose of bacteria and is the main reason the bottle recommends you use a 50% dose to start. The bacteria in the product use the oxygen in your water to process nitrates and phosphates. Excessive use of this product can cause a LARGE, TEMPORARY drop in oxygen levels in the water, which can result in suffocation of fish. Plants (including your pesky algae) and coral often survive this fall, but fish don't!
