Inexpensive two wire ball bearing fan in a computer case

I used this to replace the fan in my computer's PSU which in most cases is the first to fail. A 2-wire fan of this size was needed. Ball bearings last longer than other types of fans, but they generate a little more noise. When replacing the fan, I also opted for a little more airflow and a little more power. While this fan moves more air, it is noticeably louder. It's a trade-off - for the same fan opening size, higher airflow means more noise. And ball bearings mean longer life, but a slight increase in noise. In this case I can live with the noise. Note that the fan in my PSU uses the same connector but with opposite polarity. I didn't notice it at first and the fan didn't work until I corrected the obviously non-standard polarization of my application by swapping the pins in the connector. This is not the fan manufacturer's fault, but look carefully and compare the wire polarization of the new fan to the one you are replacing. At least the fan was not damaged by the fact that it was originally installed with the wrong polarity. Good: Inexpensive ball-bearing computer fan - it should last. And ball bearing fans can be operated in all directions without affecting service life. Compromise: It's a bit louder acoustically.
