When living in the country, good lighting is important in many cases. Our area has a cycle of aggressive coyote infestations that can be a cause for concern and because of this, taking my dogs out at night without seeing what's there and carrying a .45 caliber in my belt is problematic . When I walk my German Shorthaired Pointer and Rat Terrier at night, I turn on the headlights in the yard, but our landscaping provides enough shade for the coyotes to easily hide to challenge my dogs (the Shorthaired Pointer is 95 pounds of pure muscle , and he, could probably handle one at a time) or try snacking on a terrier (the terrier weighs 22 pounds and thinks he's the same size as his pal). My old Mag Light is good for fairly close focussed light but really useless for floodlighting beyond a few feet. This flashlight is a game changer. In Full Flood mode, it fully illuminates the side and backyard (about two acres) to almost daylight and is bright enough that I spotted a possum 80 yards away just in time for the flood last night. In "Spot" mode I can see the bushes along the creek bed 250 meters away. I haven't used it long enough to determine battery life, but it still says "full" after 5 days of use. I like the fact that I only have to plug it in to charge it without messing around with batteries and gaskets. I do feel a build up of heat in the switch area as others have described, but it hasn't become uncomfortable in the time I've been using it. The window to glass pattern in full light is odd but I'm somewhat used to it as I have a pair of my pocket sized flashlights that are built in a similar way. drawer, and I lose that one every night.
