Looks, feels and works great.

The look and feel of this knife is amazing. In initial testing, it performs well as a survival knife, meaning it's good at nothing but good enough at almost everything. The only downside is that the handle can be too small. Call me cocky, but I feel weird welding a big spooky knife on a camping trip. It's just too much like driving a Hummer for ice cream. It seems like a reasonably sized knife that doesn't feel like it's compensating for anything. This would be a bit small for chopping wood but should be fine for regular camping firewood. I use gloves from Large to XL and this knife fits my hand perfectly but feels like it needs to be longer. Unless you're choking on your throat, the bulge fits my palm perfectly, but the end of the knife stops before it leaves my hand. With my index finger on the chili, the knife feels great. So we can say that it is as small as possible. And i love it. This is not a cheap knife. You can see and feel its quality. ESEE has a pedigree and a great replacement policy behind this knife. I'm not the type of person to use replacement warranties. If I abuse and wear what I like, I will buy it again. I'm not sure under what terms I will ever ask for ESEE to replace my knife, but it's nice to know they will. I won't be using it, but I'll have to assume I'll pay for a possible replacement, so it's just a cost increase for me. In general, I suspect there are cheaper knives that do what I'm looking for, but I like this one for the price and features. It's also nice to know that I can fix the pen size issue after the sale for an additional $50. But that makes this knife very expensive and it works fine for me the way it is. It would make more sense if I could find an ESEE 4HM model to try. Overall I'm happy with this knife the way it is.
