Well, I'm never first in line when it comes to supplements or new medications for my patients. I usually let others and their patients be puppets. I limit my own supplements because of my age and the amount of time I exercise. I found myself in my 50s with two newborns and a sense of gravity. In my head, still indestructible at 245 pounds, strong as a bull, I thought it would be easy to cut back on my diet and up my aerobics. It all started well but the weight took more strength than I wanted but I had no choice, I had more time to recover although I understand a thing or two about nutrition. I have a friend who was an Olympic trainer and exercise scientist who took whey protein with glutamine before and after and was generally doing pretty well until about 210 and 4 years later. You know I have such a psychological condition associated with weightlifting, most of us who have been lifting weights daily for 40+ years know this. I feel like weak shit if I don't do at least 315 reps for 2- 3 and do a big leg press. So, I've been seeing this HMB supplement for a few years and didn't do my due diligence and didn't connect it to my situation until I had lunch with a drug salesman in my office. It appears that medical research has shown that people undergoing chemotherapy and suffering from muscle wasting retain more muscle when supplemented with this supplement. Remember my mental state, I thought I was starving myself to lose weight but I want to keep more muscle in this low cal senecio, this prompted me to do my due diligence and read about HMB thought it could no harm anyway i have about 3 weeks i only lost to 202 but i feel like i gained some strength. I also shared my thoughts with two other older guys who are in the same boat trying to lose weight and keep as much muscle and strength as possible. All in all there is good science behind this, you still need to feed the muscles and stimulate them to adapt. Kind regards, Roko.
