Works as described. Does not emit an audible sound. I left it running for hours when it arrived. I think it will be great for travel. I gave 4 stars because the instructions are very small and confusing, especially on lighting and fog modes. FYI, when you hold down the button, there's no noticeable change in lighting. Just hold for a second or two and then wait. The light color changes very, very gradually. I left it in edit mode as it looks good. The humidifier works great. Click the button to turn it on, click again to get intermittent fog. After a few hours of operation, there is no noticeable heat outside the device.
