With a 12 volt bypass thermostatic switch here at Revain hooked up to this fan, after a couple of weeks I can now say it works! The Noctura fan is very quiet and moves quite a bit of air, albeit perhaps not the strongest of winds. But for me my fan is mounted literally 5/8" behind my solar controller which is why it works. If you are interested in using solar panels you can click on my User ID on the left and see my other reviews of the items I have for my solar controller board project.Another note on mounting this fan, you can mount it firmly with nuts and bolts or use the included rubber mounts for soundproofing.I went with nuts and bolts but I also have 1/ Cut off 4" pieces of auto vacuum tubing to use as spacers between the fan and the plywood mounting board. This procedure will dampen any vibrational noise that may be transmitted from the fan to the mounting surface. Recommend this fan for applications like mine.
