Review on 🌞 ACOPOWER ProteusX Waterproof Solar Charge Controller - 20A 12V/24V with LCD Display by James Naylor

The ACOPOWER ProteusX 20A solar charge controller is easy to install and operate and can charge many different types of batteries, which is what I really liked about this controller. I tested it with an AGM battery, a flooded lead-acid battery, and LiFePO and it charged all three with no issues. I was able to get 16.9 amps through and my panels were rated for such good efficiency. First I put a panel 24V 8.5A on it, forgetting that the PWM charge controllers reduce the voltage of the panels to the voltage of the battery. This is important to know. If you are charging 12V batteries you should adapt the ProteusX to 12V panels and if you are charging 24V batteries use 24V panels or you will sacrifice half the output power of the panel. Luckily ProteusX didn't care one bit that my panels were 24V, they handled the conversion like a champ. There are other cheaper PWM controllers that warn you against using higher voltage panels to charge lower voltage batteries as this would damage the controller. ProteusX has no such warning. I left it from 11:00 to 16:00, charged different batteries and had no problems. The processing quality of the device is very good. It is all in one pot as shown in the photos in the listing and while I wouldn't recommend putting it outside all the time I would take it on a hike and not worry if it gets wet. The control panel looks solid, the controls are simple but effective. It's just a rugged and very lightweight charge controller. Definitely recommended by me.
