Acopower 20A charge controller with foldable 120W panel.

First of all thanks for the great service! All questions were answered and super fast shipping! This controller has a solid construction and is waterproof. This is most important as it is used for multi-day kayak fishing and hiking. The first test with a 120W folding panel kit produced 23.56V open circuit with no load. Battery rating was 13.0 volts at 4.8 amps. The angle of the sun wasn't perfect, but it's quite respectable! Update 06/07/2020: I tested and charged RV batteries and kayakโ€ฆ

High-quality PWM charge controller 20A

The ACOPOWER ProteusX 20A solar charge controller is easy to install and operate and can charge many different types of batteries, which is what I really liked about this controller. I tested it with an AGM battery, a flooded lead-acid battery, and LiFePO and it charged all three with no issues. I was able to get 16.9 amps through and my panels were rated for such good efficiency. First I put a panel 24V 8.5A on it, forgetting that the PWM charge controllers reduce the voltage of the panels toโ€ฆ

So I have an AcoPower MPPT controller and I really like this device. And to be honest, ProteusX works great. The charging voltage and current are exactly the same as my MPPT controller. It is sealed to be waterproof. And I really like the fact that they didn't bother to issue the load. I don't use the controller's load output, when I connect a load to my system it's on the battery side. When connecting the battery and solar cables to the charger, you must turn the charger upside down to accessโ€ฆ

  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Not the best

This is a high quality solar charge controller with a simple and user-friendly interface. It works with all major battery types including the new LifeP04 batteries. I have a LifeP04 battery and that's why I got it. Check. I tested it with a small solar panel connected with a SAE connector cable. When the charger booted up it gave me a "PO2" diagnostic error. I looked at this code in the manual and it said I had a reverse polarity coming from the solar panel. I swapped the cables and it workedโ€ฆ

  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Decent charge controller for permanent installation

I have built a gazebo in my garden and didn't want to connect it to AC because I just wanted to add lighting. So I decided to buy some 250 watt panels, gel battery but I also needed a controller. When this controller became available I decided to order it. Here's what I found: 1. This controller does NOT come with the port protection advertised and mentioned in the manual. I don't know why it's not there. So your terminals are not secure as advertised. If you take a rubber gasket sheet andโ€ฆ
