The material is of course very thin, but I didn't expect a nice and thick background either. If I wanted a thick background I would pay 2-3 times more. I hung a white sheet behind him. One of the advantages of a backdrop this thin is that it is very easy to store. I've washed/dried it a few times and it hasn't frayed. I've used it for photos of my granddaughters and to be honest even if I'll never use it again it's still worth the money.
