I've been playing around with Arduino in its various forks and incarnations for the last 15 years and this little kit caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. I really like the combination of sensors and outputs, which makes this device almost on par with the Arduino Esplora in terms of usability. My only minor complaint is the lack of an RGB LED. The reduction in sharpness is, to some extent, a welcome inclusion of an OLED display. Particularly pleasing: Although all components are connected, the board is intelligently preconfigured so that beginners can concentrate on programming without having to worry about learning the electronics. I think this would be a great course to learn how to work with entry level microcontrollers. ADDENDUM: New hobbyists should be warned that Grove-friendly sensors are often much more expensive than their regular Arduino counterparts. Even Grove cables are quite expensive, so those who need more cables will benefit most from buying another Grove starter kit.
