Insufficient cooling for large rooms

First of all I would like to say that the lamp does not look like the pictures; There are small dots on the fan's bright side that should shed stars, but they aren't. The reason I ended up returning this fan is that while it cooled the area directly below very well, the rest of the room it was placed in felt almost no difference in feel. What would it be better for? A small room with a low ceiling I guess.
