I had several thermometers and needed to keep them on my worktop away from the stove but this one mounts right in front of my oven using a built in magnet. Very cool. I can see the temperature of my food without even opening the oven. The probe goes straight into the oven and penetrates the food. If you don't have a steel door, brackets are provided so you can attach them to the front of the oven. It also has an alarm that sounds when the food reaches the desired temperature so I don't have to keep checking the food. This is a great purchase! Very accurate.
