Review on Rugged Ridge 18760 15 33 Teeth Speedometer by Ryan Arthur

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installs easily and eliminates my speedometer reading by 10%

My 1999 TJ Wrangler speedometer underestimated actual speed by 10% (tested with two apps and other vehicles) due to larger/taller wheels (rim and tire) size 245/75R17 (2 inch lift). Used online calculation based on new tires and rims and differential (3.73), ordered a replacement 33-tooth gear. Upon removing the old drive gear, I found that it was a regular 36 tooth installed on smaller wheels (215/75R15). The result is excellent! My speedometer is now reading just the right speed (within my estimate of 1-2% at 100km/h). A new rubber o-ring was purchased and installed and was done in less than 15 minutes with the right tools.

Pros
  • Short Speedometer: After vehicle maintenance, especially after installing larger tires, bring the speedometer and odometer up to speed and get accurate mileage readings with this speedometer that eliminates calibration issues
