Review on Denso 234 3001 Oxygen Sensor by Peter Nobles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Faster response time and more reliable than Bosch

I bought a pair of these for a 1986 Mustang that has been heavily modified to produce 800hp. on the rear wheels. Modifications require the use of high octane leaded racing fuel when running on the track. These Densos are ideal for this application due to their built in resistance to lead contamination. With Bosch sensors, leaded petrol killed O2 within a day's track. With the Denso I can drive unleaded on the highway and unleaded on the road and still have accurate and sensitive O2 readings over thousands of miles. For both road and racing use, my rig allows me to see real-time O2 readings. I also have the ability to record them on a laptop, along with dozens of other data points, both on the track and on the road. This gives me the opportunity to compare the functionality of Denso and Bosch quite well. I have found that the new Denso motor kit, even with street unleaded gas, warms up faster to operating temperature and is more sensitive to ECU fuel adjustments than the new Bosch motor kit. Don't get me wrong, both are excellent products. But for a heavy-duty application, Denso is definitely the best choice. They warm up quicker, respond quicker and more accurately to split-second ECU adjustments, are more reliable on race fuels, and allow you to fine-tune your race setup. use eventually kills them.
