These outlets were simple enough to install, assuming that you have worked with electrical components at all. If you haven't you should probably have a qualified electrician install them. Household electrical voltage is nothing to mess around with for amateurs.Construction is pretty solid. It requires quite a bit of room though, so isn't a great choice if there is not plenty of room in the outlet box you are using and shouldn't be used in older two wire systems without a ground. It would be nice if the unit included some sort of surge protection, but I wouldn't really expect it at this price. It definitely is not something that you would want to use in a kitchen or bathroom as it has no GFCI protection and wouldn't meet code requirements in locations where there is moisture.I am only using the USB outlets to quick charge my phones and tablets, so I have no idea how well these far with items that have a high current draw, like laptops. From reading the other reviews it doesn't sound like these are really designed for items like that though.
