Review on Delta Faucet RP25513 Stem Assembly by Mario Portillo

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Water flows from the stem - new out of the box?

CAUTION. BEWARE. I replaced a 5 year old. old cartridge for a new one out of the box. it leaked. tried a new one. it leaked. in about 30 minutes. I think I figured out why it was leaked. Out of curiosity, I initially thought the stem pivoted too easily. I disassembled the device. very little effort required. collect it back. As a result, the knob turned too easily. even worse than new out of the box. My guess is that the inner ring 0. pulls out of its cavity (perhaps a cone-shaped cavity) a bit when loosening and is therefore not sealing properly. I accidentally did it twice. I didn't measure the gaps to fit the o-ring into its cavity. so i'm not sure if my theory is correct. I added some petroleum jelly to the stem and o-ring and squeezed the o-ring until it was snug in the bottom of the cavity. newly installed. no leak. CONCLUSION. DON'T EVEN TRY TO SEPARATE THE LOWER AND UPPER HALF SLIGHTLY. INSTALL DIRECTLY IN THE BOX. TURN IF NECESSARY. FOR LEVELING THE HANDLE. PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRESSURE IN THE UPPER AND BOTTOM HALF. EFFORT TOGETHER. OR. EXPOSURE HANDLE LATER AFTER INSTALLATION. . I think Delta should fix this potential design flaw. and make the inner cavity of the 0 ring. NOT CONICAL. ( I think) . however, due to the injection molding process. Cones may be required to demould the part. I doubt a cavity can have straight walls. Got to. or be sure. insert two (2) rings) and make a compression fitting. in my opinion.LOWER PART. it works. No leaks after 7 days. I have to give 5 stars. however due to my overall setup (partially my fault) disappointment. I gave 1 star.
