Review on Dorman 904 235 Chevrolet Turbocharger Position by Alex Cassanova

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mine works without Tech 2 2004.5 LLY Duramax

I've wanted to change this for a long time. I have LLY Duramax 2004.5. I contacted the dealer and they charged about $700 to replace it and relearn the bucket position sensor. I bought this and installed it without a tech 2 and my check engine light went out. After a while I felt insecure, bought Tech 2 on the website for $400 and went to relearn. It didn't have to be re-learned. I had to modify the connector on the sensor, it has a plastic rib inside preventing it from connecting, I cut it out with a tiny set of flush wire cutters, custom sized special cutters. You can use a utility knife. As for the need for a Tech 2, I don't know that this one might be different, but I've compared the desired values to the Tech 2's actual values as they show you and my vane position sensor was spot on. Truck runs much better, saved some money anyway, Tech 2 isn't as good as I was hoping but has some cool features. The relearn position wouldn't fit on my Tech 2 so I'm guessing my truck recognized it. All the videos and stuff I've seen and read showed that the re-learning feature appeared automatically, in my case it didn't.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Can I add anything
