Review on πŸ“Έ Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 80 QD CG Date 35mm Camera: Capture Moments with Precision and Style by Travis Rio

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Outdated but suitable for point-and-shoot film cameras

This camera may be too old. It's quite big, you can hardly call it a compact camera. Also, the maximum aperture is only F4.5, so using high-speed film is recommended. The image quality is excellent, like that of a DSLR. Much better in fact than the results I can get from a similarly sized digital camera, especially at the end of the shorter zoom range. And the flash works fine. There's some red-eye, but overall it doesn't overexpose scenes like most flashes on smaller cameras. I have had this camera for several years and my boyfriend still uses it. It's had a few issues over the years: it makes a grinding noise when the zoom is pulled out (it hasn't broken yet, but I expect it will someday), and it can be a little difficult to open the door to activate the camera. Perhaps the Stylus Epic 2.8 lens, which is still in production, is a better choice - it doesn't have a zoom, but it has a faster lens, a smaller body and slightly better image quality.

Pros
  • Date imprint and self-timer
Cons
  • The list goes on.
