I bought this Olympus solely based on the reviews posted on this site and I love it! I was a bit concerned as I didn't have time to test it out before taking it on vacation, but the photos looked amazing. This camera captured details that my old camera would have missed. This camera may be too old. It's quite big, you can hardly call it a compact camera. Also, the maximum aperture is only F4.5, so using high-speed film is recommended. The image quality is excellent, like that of a DSLR. Much better in fact than the results I can get from a similarly sized digital camera, especially at the end of the shorter zoom range. Takes great pictures. Survive the fall onto the sidewalk (drops from 2 feats off the bench). Withstands rain with no problems. Still takes great pictures. The small size is great and easy to use. The editor's review says the battery compartment is difficult to open - it's counterintuitive from the direction of the arrow (it looks straight), but look at the rear legs and you'll understand.
