UPDATED: This is an updated review after replacing my unit for two weeks - my original comments below still apply. This is a USB power delivery port. I repeat, sometimes when computers are asleep they turn off power to their USB ports, which disables external devices that depend on them for power. This is exactly the case with this PWAY model - it will not work if the computer's USB ports are disabled. Using a directly attached keyboard or mouse on a sleeping computer will often wake it up, but PWAY doesn't work that way. This wasn't such a big problem with my original unit, but the replacement unit seems to be more sensitive to this. I would buy the externally powered version if not buying this model. ORIGINAL: PWAY 4-Port KVM Switch model PW-SH0401B-1 is easy to set up and use. I've hooked it up to an iMac (USB switching only), a Dell laptop, and a Mac laptop. Both laptops are connected to a Benq monitor and feature the same keyboard and trackball as the iMac. However, after two months of daily use, USB switching began to fail. At first I was able to use a different mouse, but after a few days the computers stopped recognizing the mouse and keyboard. I contacted PWAY and they arranged for a replacement to be sent. After a two week wait and no show, I contacted them again on Friday and the replacement was there the following Monday. So far so good that the new one works just like the original did at the beginning. Pros: Easy to set up Easy to swap Inexpensive compared to other KVMs Full set of USB and HDMI cables Able to use the full resolution of my Benq monitor No external power supply (powered from computer's USB port) Cons: Reliable - I'll report back here and let everyone know if a replacement still works Hotkey switching - I can't hotkey switch between computers to work. Had the same problem in the first block. I've tried different keyboards, but without much joy. Latency β There is a three to four second delay when switching video. This is in contrast to the more expensive KVMs I've used to switch videos in less than 1 second. Note that this does not include the time it takes to wake up a sleeping laptop. This adds at least another second. USB powered - see my detailed comments above. This can be a problem with certain settings.
