BINOWEN key fob replacement is a good option

I had a $69.00 key maker offer to replace my new 2004 Beetle key fob. Luckily, I saw a Binowen product on Amazon for less than $10. After moving the knife (there's a trick you can find on YouTube), the RFID chip and the circuit board to the new key fob, everything worked great. A note: The VW logo decal is located inside the new key fob. So don't order it off ebay like I did and waste $5. Lesson learned ;) Good luck.
