See beverage can photo for scale. We have a rain barrel for our garden. Because of where we have them, sometimes we have to move water from one to the other. We can do this with a siphon if the barrel we are feeding water is lower, but if it is higher it will not work. This solves the problem where we can connect a hose to the lowest outlet on our water barrel and raise the water to 9.8 feet. I would say a flow rate of 3 GPM is correct as it took about an hour to move about 200 GPM from one tank to another.
