I used this to hang a Hunter ceiling fan from a sloping ceiling. Without something like this, the task would not have been possible. The original packaging was very flat and narrower than the fan mount. The fan kit came with long screws to screw directly into truss or other wood, but since a certain side of the fan mount had to be on the "up" side of the slope, the long screws had nowhere to go. However, with this mount I was able to easily mount this mount to a flat box and mount the fan at a suitable angle on the mount. Worked great and didn't wobble in the ceiling fan at all.
