I still have a set of LED -Softboxes Newer. I definitely prefer this pair's setup over these. They work like an umbrella, opening up and snapping into place. You, on the other hand, have 4 metal rods that you have to insert on the side of the light and then put into small pockets on the reflector. As soon as I plugged one in, the other either fell out of a pocket on the reflector or out of a hole in the light body itself. I'm sure I can figure it out once I get used to it, but I think it would be nice if there was some sort of pivoting mechanism on the body of the LED to block it or something. It's definitely not as portable as the other cheaper softboxes I've gotten from Neewer in the past. The reflector setting is really my only real problem. Once you set it up, it's great. To that end, I hesitate to take it apart and put it in my bag because of the hassle of putting it together. I'm not a professional photographer so I'm not sure if anyone has a better solution for this. I understand why it's designed that way because the LED matrix is large so an umbrella type setup might not work. But I thought people would be interested in hearing about it. Otherwise, this is a very nice softbox with LED lighting. They have different color settings to choose from. Some quick tips to get you started and optimize from there. In addition, there are several quick white light adjustments depending on the Kelvin temperature. There are also some special effects settings to simulate off-camera lighting effects in thunderstorms or police lights. I see this as handy for indie filmmakers. The fully extended stand offers a pretty good headroom. I've included a photo of the device just below my 7.5ft ceiling for reference. The lamp can be operated with batteries. I can order some as it makes them very flexible for placement. The bag is lined and divided to separate the coasters from the power and light sources and is of good quality. This is generally the same quality as other Neewer items I've tried. So far I have always been impressed with the quality of Neewer. It offers good value for money. Aside from the initial setup issues, this is a really good kit.
