I bought a QL3B to replace a stuck QL3. (On the old QL3, we couldn't turn the locking ring or the filter.) On the QL3B, filters are much easier to remove and install. With the old QL3, we used to spend a few minutes removing the old filter and then another few minutes putting it on. Whenever the valve was turned back on, there was always a moment of doubt as to whether or not it would work. Filters can be attached and removed from the QL3B in seconds. QL3B has a simpler mechanism. It lacks the extra locking ring that was problematic on the QL3. I was able to use the connectors from the QL3 when I connected the QL3B. The only tools I used were pliers to loosen/tighten the connectors and scissors to cut the teflon tape. (I'm not sure if new tape is needed, but I removed as much of the old tape as I could and then used a small amount of new tape.)
