Came in a sealed box with all relevant markings. Inside was a white plastic remover, some soft goods lube, instructions and a cartridge. I've watched a few videos on YouTube and many of them said that the plastic removal tool that comes with it is useless and that you need to buy a Moen or Danco removal tool (mixed opinions on which is better between the two [ one is cheaper but I wear it don't know if it's just cheaper or cheaper]). Also, after reading the reviews on this product I was concerned that this cartridge would not come with a plastic removal tool so I bought a Moen tool with this cartridge just in case. However, I didn't even have to open the Moen tool. I followed the instructions that came with it, except that instead of going one direction as the instructions said, I turned clockwise until it was very difficult to turn but released the body, and then went the other direction until it did almost came out, but it became difficult to turn back, and then back in the original direction and voila. The cartridge rotated freely. All I had to do was grab a pair of pliers and with a little effort, pulled it straight out. Now when installing the cassette went almost completely, but could not reinstall the clip. I couldn't fully install it without the help of a 3/8" deep socket and a light tap of a hammer. I used a socket large enough to bypass the brass pin but not too large to make contact with the case which the cartridge resides in and a few light taps on the back of the socket it snapped into place. Do not push/hit the brass post. Pushing/knocking on the brass pin may eject the core. The kernel is actually not so easy to open (perhaps because it's old I didn't try to parse the new one) I tried an old cartridge thinking of remanufacturing it so I could have a spare anyway I just wanted to point this out. Overall a simple solution thanks to a well thought out product. By the way: if you bought a Moen light and you still have your receipt, you can use a cartridge from Get moen for free. Just give her a call. They give a lifetime guarantee on their products. I tried but my lamps came with the house I bought so I didn't have a receipt to email them. It also doesn't hurt to call them and see if they'll send you one without a receipt. The worst thing they can say is 'no' and then you just go back to Revain, buy this product and you're done.
