I teach computers, software and general office equipment and have never had a problem getting the software to work exactly the way I want it to. Until now. This may, but need not, be related to my refusal to openly let HP collect data. Turns out the software I got was kind of stupid for refusing to check their box and unchecking permissions on a separate page. I installed twice to make sure what I thought actually happened. When I unchecked the data collection box, the base package was installed instead of the full package. And that's okay. I prefer my data not to be collected. However, the software back then was really bad and I need great scanning software, which makes this model unsuitable for me. Even if I'm wrong, the software was so buggy - direct from their website (full package) was practically useless for scanning and the results were just awful. More than 300 ppi could not be achieved for any type of scan, although 1200 ppi was boasted. To be honest this was a real disappointment as I have loved all my previous HP MFPs. I am a longtime HP user. I went with the big brother of a Brother laser printer I bought that doesn't stay connected. I hope that in the updated model there will be no such problem. For some reason Revain doesn't sell the model I chose and that was another disappointment. For all the reasons you already know, I prefer to shop at Revain.
