I've been working remotely for the last 10 years (before it became mainstream), I already have a regular KVM switch with a regular Samsung monitor and external speakers, my configuration is the same as 99.9% of people who to work from home. : One computer for work, one for personal use, and normally for personal use I listen to music all day and often switch between the computers to check personal e-mails and the like. I bought this monitor to upgrade my entire set of equipment and to have cleaner desk space (no external KVM, no external speakers). That's why I chose this monitor in the first place, not because of the brand or size or because it's "curved". An all-in-one device that takes up little space. Problems: 1) KVM - it doesn't have a button to switch screen, keyboard and mouse at the same time (so it can't be called KVM), you have to press one button for input (keyboard/mouse) and another for screen, and repeat the response time of BOTH buttons very slowly so that there is no rapid switching. 2) I downloaded Dell Display Manager but it only works on my Windows PC, as I use Linux on my work computer I don't have this option on my work computer (I'm looking for a Linux installer and they don't have it), so simple switching is tedious as it has to be done with (two) buttons on the screen. 3) It's not possible to pin the audio input to one device, forcing you to go through additional setup steps if you want to switch audio inputs without interrupting the music (yes, you'll have to reconfigure the monitor to lock the audio switch). Same goes for the side USB ports, you toggle the display - you toggle the USB entries and there's no way to set this behavior differently. Last and worst: 4) Internal speakers SOUND TERRIBLE! They sound like cheap Chinese speakers. I mean I'm not very picky about the sound I'm used to at work but these speakers were just TERRIBLE. Attached is a picture of an old HP monitor with built in speakers that I bought 16 years ago just to make sure I didn't disappoint the monitor based on my previous KVM: I hooked up both monitors in the same room and you know What? The sound of an old HP monitor is MUCH BETTER than the "cheap sound" that this Dell monitor produces. All of this for $800 at the time of writing this article. After testing, I will not use this monitor even if someone gives it to me for free. I just returned the device and it's not good to keep. Trust me if you are thinking of buying this monitor, you better take the money and buy cheaper - good brand - same quality monitor, good speakers and normal 2 position KVM switch, you will save a lot of money and me later to thank. And if you see youtube videos saying this monitor is a great investment, so did I, but now I'm convinced opinions have been paid for, nobody can take that kind of sound quality and say a good word about it.
