Elastic in waist was very tight and extremely uncomfortable for me so I removed it. Odd thing is I ordered a medium and large and medium was better than large. Crazy. I admit I am a bit thick in the middle. I am 5'5" weigh 138-142. Nice pants but the waist elastic was killing me and I was stuck somewhere away from home so removed all the elastic from the waist size large. So I guess if I want to reorder I would have to order XL.I only wore medium once at it was at home so didn't notice the killing waist on that one. Probably won't fit after I wash it. SO in my opinion order size larger than you think you need unless you have skinny waist. Elastic is about 3/8 in wide sewn in pretty good, was a chore to remove but I was desperate since I was stuck with them for two days.
