Review on Purdy 14A753018: The Ultimate Adjustable Paint Roller Frame for 12-Inch to 18-Inch Coverage by Robert Staten

I bought this adjustable paint roller frame in March 2018. I am writing this review in early May 2019. Up until this week I was very happy with the frame. I love painting with 18" rolls! But unfortunately this frame suffered from the same affliction as my last 9" Purdy frames. . The frame literally fell off the Purdy extension I used in my 5 gallon Wideboy bucket. Not the 18" reel guard, the whole frame just gasped! It annoys me because as an engineer I know the decisions in product design. I believe Purdy made the choice to cast these threads out of wearable plastic rather than cast aluminum or to use another similar material because I knew it would mean buying another frame that would otherwise have lasted much longer. I think this design choice is irresponsible. It's a waste of the environment and seems particularly greedy to me. I won't make another one buy it, and I hope you, the consumer, will too.
