This door latch will save you money and save you from replacing your entire door handle!

I have a Kwikset doorknob on my front door. One day, as I was turning the knob, I noticed that the bolt would not slide in and out of the strike plate hole. I'm not a locksmith so I had to learn all these terms. The hasp is a metal plate attached to the door jamb with a hole for the doorknob. When the door is closed, the latch fits into a hole in the striker plate and holds the door shut. After disassembling the doorknob and knob, I found that the inner doorknob was broken. I saw that eventually the metal would tire and simply bend, preventing the latch from moving. I figured I would have to replace the entire doorknob which would cost me about $200! Since I love my original chrome door knob and knob so much, I wanted to see if I could salvage those parts and just buy a brand new door latch. Door locks I was looking for. I searched Revain and came across a polished brass Kwikset interior door latch for $6.47. Luckily, I was able to use the same chrome strike plate from my old setup with this new door latch. When the installation was complete my door knob and knob worked like new. I was very relieved that I had saved the money for a new door handle. If you find yourself in the same situation, the first option to try is replacing your door lock and you can save a lot of money too!
