I chose Alorair based on the negative reviews of Aprilaire dryers on Revain. I did this in my basement and the difficulty of installation is the main reason for my 3/5 star rating. The inlet duct is not 12" but closer to 11.5", so installing a 12" flexible duct and further maintenance is very difficult. Also if you plan on putting it in an unfinished utility room in your basement. because it won't be easy, especially if you don't have enough space.
