I bought this because I was looking for something small (to fit in my pocket) that I could use for wildlife photography while walking outdoors. I usually carry my phone with me, so I thought this would be a good way to quickly get better quality photos than my phone can, to post to Facebook and Instagram. I have a small point and shoot but was looking for something that would capture better quality footage from afar. The close-up and mid-range shots are simply fantastic. Fresh and clean and beautiful color. However, at long range, which is what I wanted, the clarity is fine. This is a higher MP and optical zoom than my P&S, but slightly better quality. It's quite thick, so it won't fit in my pocket, nor will it fit in a P&S. But what I didn't like the most was the ease of use when connected to the phone. It connected well and keeps contact fairly well. It takes a while to focus, however, and handheld shots become blurry. If the shots were sharp I would put up with this physical clumsiness, but without it it just doesn't fit the purpose I intended it for.
